Railway Business

We run two separate railway lines: Nishitetsu Tenjin-Omuta Line and Kaizuka Line.

The Nishitetsu Tenjin-Omuta Line starts at Fukuoka (Tenjin) and runs 74.8 km to Omuta, passing through such cities as Futsukaichi, Kurume and Yanagawa, a journey time of approximately 63 minutes (in the case of express trains). In addition to the main line, there are two branch lines: Dazaifu Line linking Futsukaichi with Dazaifu, and Amagi Line linking Miyanojin with Amagi.

The Kaizuka Line starts at Kaizuka (Higashi Ward, Fukuoka), and runs to Shingu-machi, connecting with the Hakozaki Line on Fukuoka City Subway.

Major Vehicles and Facilities of Nishitetsu Railway

Dazaifu Sightseeing Train “Tabito”

The trains are wrapped inside and out with the theme of Dazaifu, a sightseeing spot along the Tenjin-Omuta Line. In September 2017, the trains were renewed and the exteriors were redesigned in a picture scroll style.

Yanagawa Sightseeing Train “Suito”

The exteriors of the train cars are wrapped with images in the theme of Yanagawa, a tourist attraction along the Tenjin-Omuta Line. In July 2017, the trains were updated and are now operating with swords of the Tachibana clan, lords of the Yanagawa domain, and other items displayed inside the cars.

Sightseeing train for a taste of the region THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO

The train has been operating since March 23, 2019. The train's interior, based on the concept of "Local to Train," combines the charms of the areas along the train line, such as bamboo weaving using bamboo from Yame, Jojima tiles from Kurume, and furniture from Okawa, with the sensibilities of its creators, forming an atmosphere that is like a home away from home.

In addition, Car 2 features a large kitchen for serving freshly prepared, hot meals made with a variety of seasonal ingredients from along the train line. The train operates as one that connects people to people, people to things, and people to experiences.
