The Nishitetsu Group's bus business includes both the public transportation bus business and the tourist bus business.
The public transportation bus business is classified into two categories: general-route buses, which play an important role in supporting local lifestyles, and highway buses, which directly connect cities, mainly in the various prefectures of Kyushu.
In the tourist bus business, Nishitetsu Kanko Bus Co., Ltd., a company specializing in tourist buses, is the main driver in developing a community-based business and aggressively pursuing customers from outside the prefecture.

*The routes listed are those of Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd., Nishitetsu Bus Kitakyushu Co., Ltd., Nishitetsu Bus Chikuho Co., Ltd., Kamenoi Bus Co., Ltd., Hita Bus Co., Ltd., and Kitakyu-Nishitetsu Taxi, Co. Ltd.
A single “articulated bus” can accommodate about twice as many passengers as a regular bus. As one of the initiatives with Fukuoka City to form a new transportation system, “Urban circulation BRT,” these were introduced in August 2016 and operate in the Tenjin, Hakata, and waterfront areas. In addition, as part of an initiative with Kitakyushu City to form a “BRT between hubs,” the system was introduced in July 2019 and operates between Kokura and Kurosaki, Kokura and Tobata, and between Tsunemi and Kokura.

GRANDAYS offers unprecedentedly spectacular and elegant bus trips. Limited to 12 seats, this private space is designed to hotel specifications for comfort and relaxation, and takes you to various carefully selected locations that can only be reached by bus.

Cycle buses, which allow bicycles to be brought on board the bus without disassembly, were introduced in April 2023. We aim to help stimulate demand for travel through cycle tourism, which is gaining momentum, and to further contribute to regional revitalization by investing the funds in cycle events and cycling tours in Kyushu and Fukuoka.

This roofless double-decker bus, which began operating in March 2012, tours sightseeing spots in Fukuoka City. The vehicle is Japan’s first made-to-order vehicle of its type made in Japan. Seasonal course changes and events are also offered.

The “Hakata-go” is an overnight express bus service between Fukuoka/Kitakyushu and Tokyo. The bus celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2020, having started operation as an overnight express bus with the longest running distance in Japan. The new vehicles, introduced to commemorate the company’s 30th anniversary, feature improved seating comfort and come with an EDSS (Emergency Driver Safety System) plus other safety features. Customers can now enjoy a safe and comfortable ride even on long journeys

The on-demand bus service “Knowroute” is a new service that enables customers to dispatch buses when they want to ride, via an app or phone call. Unlike a typical transit bus, which has a bus stop and a set schedule, this service operates between meeting points (boarding and alighting points) in the service area while calculating an efficient route according to the customer’s reservation. Demonstration runs have been taking place in the Island City district (Higashi Ward, Fukuoka) from April 2019 and in the Iki-Minami district (Nishi Ward, Fukuoka) from June 2020.
